Scotland’s northwest coast is one of the last truly wild coastal regions in Europe. Towering mountains rising straight from the sea, deserted beaches, small fishing harbours, deep sea lochs and remote islands make this an ideal area to explore by tall ship.

Flexibility is key to making the most of this adventurous trip!

Prices
We have divided the prices into two categories because our double cabins are different in size. All prices are per person when staying in:

  • Standard cabin            €  1635,- per person
  • Comfort/Plus cabin     €  1795,- per person
  • Singel cabin                  €  2405,- per person (limited availability)
Included

Included:

  • Accommodation in a twin cabin with private shower and toilet
  • Fresh bed linen and towels are provided
  • Professional crew consisting of: Captain, First Mate, and Cook
  • Use of the Zodiac for shore landings
  • All charges regarding Port fees, tourists Fees and fuel expenses.
  • Half board: Coffee, tea, milk, juices, and water included during meals.
    Half board includes: Breakfast served on board every day, plus one main meal (either lunch or dinner). The other main meal is at your own expense ashore. If, for any reason, we decide to anchor and not go ashore, all three meals will be served on board at no additional cost.

Please note that our galley can accommodate vegetarian meals, but we are unable to cater for special dietary requirements as a standard service.

Not Included:

  • Travel to and from the ship
  • Personal expenses
  • Any additional entrance fees and beverages ashore
  • Drinks purchased on board

We sail with an international group of guests on board. Participants on this voyage typically come from countries including the Netherlands, Switzerland, England, Germany, Sweden, and Scotland.

    Possible itinerary

    During this 9-day voyage we let the wind, weather and tides guide us as much as possible. Rather than following a strict itinerary, we embrace the freedom to sail towards the places that feel most beautiful and interesting at that particular moment. Because of this, no two voyages are ever the same.

    Possible destinations include the Outer Hebrides with places such as Stornoway and Tarbert, the dramatic Shiant Isles with their vast seabird colonies, the sheltered lochs of Wester Ross, Loch Ewe, Lochinver and the rugged coastline of Assynt. Along the way there are countless small anchorages, uninhabited islands and remote bays far away from the routes of larger cruise ships.

    Some days may involve longer passages under sail across open water, while on others we may decide to remain a little longer in a particularly beautiful anchorage simply because there is no reason to leave. There is plenty of opportunity to go ashore for walks, visit small villages, spot wildlife or simply enjoy life aboard while the ship lies quietly at anchor.

    Seals, dolphins, puffins and sometimes even whales are regularly seen in these waters. The combination of dramatic Atlantic scenery and the peace of remote anchorages makes this area truly special.

    Aboard the Flying Dutchman, the journey itself is just as important as the destinations. Guests are welcome to actively participate in sailing, steering and navigation, but simply relaxing and enjoying the ship and the surroundings is equally encouraged.

    This voyage is designed for people who enjoy adventure, nature and discovering places that are difficult to reach by ordinary means — a journey where, ultimately, the wind decides where we go.

    Unfortunately, our trip to the Northwest Coast ends after an eventful week. After a good breakfast, it’s time to say goodbye to the Flying Dutchman and his crew.
