Route planning

The specified program is a guideline and can be adjusted under the influence of weather, current and wind. Flexibility is the rule on this journey. A wealth of information on the Scottish west coast can be found at http://www.visitscotland.com/nl-nl/over/natuur-geografie/kusten-inseln

Day 1: Oban-Port Ellen (Islay)

We welcome you in Oban, a cozy fishing village in a beautiful bay. You will be greeted by the crew on board and meet your fellow travelers. After instruction we will sail towards Islay at about 3pm. We enjoy what can be seen along the beautiful West Coast: space and views of the Isle of Mull and other beauties of unspoiled Scotland. We moored in Port Ellen (Islay)

Day 2: Islay visits Ardbeg-Lagavullin and Lafroig

Many distilleries have their own pier. With this ship we can visit Lagavullin, Ardbeg and Lafroig in this way. After visiting these beautiful distilleries, head to Port Askaig. On the way we enjoy the view of the Sound of Islay and the Paps of Jura. It is a charming environment.

Day 3: Islay & Jura

Today we go to the brand new distillery Ardnahoe. Ardnahoe is the ninth distillery on the famous island of Islay. With a production capacity of just 500,000 liters of alcohol per year, Ardnahoe is a very small but special distillery. They use a classic peat-like distillate of Islay malt and use the best barley and water from the depths of Loch Ardnahoe. With wood washbacks, Scottish stills, traditional worm barrel condensers, and the knowledge of one of the whiskey industry’s most experienced distillers, Ardnahoe strives for one of the most magical whiskeys. We also visit the Caol Ila Distillery and the Bunnahabhain Distillery. At the end of the day we drive to Jura, where we spend the night.

Day 4: Jura & Oban

After breakfast we drive to the Isle of Jura distillery. The island of Jura is a paradise of untouched nature and natural beauty.  After visiting the distillery and a tour, the sails go up and head back to Oban. We sail along the beautiful Scottish west coast, and the space and the views of the islands of Jura, Scarba, Luing, Kerrera and Mull show us the beauties of unspoiled Scotland. Tonight we enjoy a delicious dinner on board.

Day 5: Oban
